Not every update is a headline feature. This is the small-print changelog for the early-October 2026 release, and it is three fixes: your Google Calendar no longer shows you as "awaiting" on your own bookings, the onboarding "skip" now asks before it leaves you with an empty page, and the profession landing pages got visually cleaner. None are glamorous. All of them remove friction.

Your calendar stops showing you as "awaiting"

When a guest booked you, the event landed on your Google Calendar but showed you as "awaiting" with no checkmark, as if you had not responded to your own booking. We now mark the host attendee as accepted when the event is created, so it shows confirmed on your side immediately. This was a Google behaviour change, not a regression in our code: Google used to auto-accept the event organiser and quietly stopped, which is why the attendee responseStatus now has to be set explicitly. The guest still shows as "awaiting" until they respond, which is correct, since they are the one being invited. For how the integration is meant to work end to end, see payments and calendars on autopilot.

Onboarding won't let you skip the one step that counts

The biggest leak in getting a new host live was the one-tap "skip" on the go-live screen. Most hosts who finished onboarding with zero services had used it, some of them on a paid plan, and a booking page with no service is a shop with empty shelves. So the skip now asks first. Instead of leaving on one tap, it opens a confirmation, "Leave without a service?", with the primary action pointing you back to add one and "Skip anyway" demoted to a quieter secondary. Nobody is forced to add a service, but nobody skips it by accident either. If you are setting up now, onboarding a host in 60 seconds walks through adding that first service.

The profession pages got cleaner

We removed the small uppercase "eyebrow" labels from the top of all 19 profession landing pages and their sections, so the headline is the first thing you read instead of a label floating above it. A few pages also had their hero cards repositioned so the mascot and the floating "booked" and "reminder" cards sit cleanly instead of overlapping. Small stuff, but it is the difference between a page that looks considered and one that looks busy. The copy, plans and booking flow on each page are unchanged.

Every fix in this October release

AreaWhat changedWhat you'll notice
Google CalendarHost attendee set to accepted when a booked event is createdYour own bookings show confirmed instead of "awaiting"
OnboardingOne-tap skip replaced with a "Leave without a service?" confirmationFewer new hosts go live with an empty booking page
Profession (/for) pagesRemoved uppercase eyebrow labels across all 19 pages; repositioned some hero cardsCleaner heroes; headline reads first (visual only)
What this release is not

These are shipped fixes, not new features. The calendar change corrects display of your own attendance only; it does not alter guest confirmations. The onboarding change adds a confirmation step, not a hard requirement. The /for page work is purely visual.

Why we write these down

Shipping is not just features; it is the hundred small corrections that make the product feel calm. Writing the boring fixes down keeps us honest and gives you a real record of what changed. Common questions

Why did my Google Calendar show "awaiting" on my own bookings?

Google stopped auto-accepting the event organiser, so the host appeared as not-yet-responded. Book A Sloth now sets the host attendee as accepted when the booked event is created, so it shows confirmed on your side right away. The guest still shows "awaiting" until they respond, which is correct.

Can I still skip adding a service during onboarding?

Yes. The skip now opens a short "Leave without a service?" confirmation instead of leaving on one tap, so you can still skip deliberately, it just no longer happens by accident. Adding one service is what makes your page bookable.

Did the profession (/for) pages change what they offer?

No. The October change was visual only: cleaner heroes and repositioned cards. The copy, plans and booking flow on each page are unchanged.
