Every Indian family has a dining table where careers get decided. Somebody's NEET score sits in the middle like a bill nobody wants to pay, an uncle cites a cousin who went to Russia, and a younger sibling quietly googles "how to become a developer" under the table. I'm Shubham, I run Book A Sloth, and this week three people joined the platform who can take a seat at that table for free.

Here is the short version. Atish Gupta offers free MBBS abroad counselling (45 minutes, online). Naman Acharya offers free 1:1 mentorship for developers (30 minutes, online). Vishal Chaware offers free Salesforce career guidance (60 minutes, online). Three careers, three honest conversations, zero rupees. Career counselling online in India usually comes with a sales funnel attached. These three just put a calendar up. The same week also brought a family lawyer, architect and financial advisor to the platform.

Atish Gupta: MBBS abroad counselling from The Edulocus Way

If Atish's name sounds familiar, it's because I wrote about him already. On 30 June 2026 he became the first host who ever paid us. A founder doesn't forget that kind of thing. Now he's back in the spotlight for his own work: Atish is Director of The Edulocus Way in Nagpur, and his tagline reads "Right Guidance. Right College. Bright Future."

His profile says he helps students and parents make informed admission decisions through expert counselling, personalised guidance and transparent support. That last word matters more than it looks. The MBBS-abroad market runs on brochures with smiling students in snow, and parents rarely know which questions to ask before they sign.

The stakes are real. The National Medical Commission's FMGL Regulations 2021 require at least 54 months of study plus a 12-month internship at the same foreign institution, taught in English. Then comes the licensing exam. In the December 2025 FMGE session, only 10,264 of 43,933 candidates cleared it, according to Medical Dialogues. Picking a university is not the finish line. It's the first of several gates.

His free session, MBBS Abroad Counselling, covers the whole route:

  • Choosing the right country and university based on your NEET score, budget and career goals
  • A personalised profile evaluation, plus NEET eligibility and the admission process
  • Tuition fee and total cost estimation, with hostel and accommodation information
  • Visa and documentation guidance
  • FMGE/NExT licensing and career counselling after the degree
  • Scholarship and education-loan guidance
  • Open Q&A, ending with a personalised admission roadmap

Book it if you're a NEET aspirant (or the parent paying for one) and you want the cost, the licensing exam and the paperwork on one page before any agent asks for a deposit. Bring your score and your budget. Leave with a roadmap.

Naman Acharya: free 1:1 mentorship for developers

Naman is a full stack web developer and freelancer based in Pune. His bio is five words long: "Developing secure websites and application". No LinkedIn poetry. I respect a man who doesn't decorate.

A freelancer has to know the full stack, and also how to find clients, scope work and get paid. That second half is the part tutorials skip. YouTube will teach you React for free, but it won't look at your half-built project and tell you why the login page leaks. Freelancing is one of the realistic ways to make money from home, but only once that second half works.

His 1:1 Mentorship session is free, 30 minutes, online. It's built for students stuck between tutorials, freshers deciding between a job and freelancing, or anyone who wants a working developer to look at their code. Thirty minutes is short, so come with one sharp question rather than a vague "how do I start". You'll get more out of it. If you are aiming at data engineering, revise these Databricks interview questions before the call.

Vishal Chaware: Salesforce career guidance from a working developer

Vishal's bio is even shorter than Naman's: "I am Salesforce Developer". Four words, and the job title is the whole pitch. Fair enough. It's a niche most college placement cells barely mention, and that gap is exactly why this session exists.

Salesforce is a CRM platform with its own development world (admins, developers, consultants, certifications) and a lot of confused people trying to work out where to enter. Someone already doing the work is the right person to ask, not a coaching ad that promises a package in 90 days. For how to vet anyone you book, see how to find and book an expert online.

His career counselling for Salesforce session is free and runs a full 60 minutes online, the longest of the three. That's enough time to talk about where you are now, what the developer role involves day to day, and what you'd need to learn next. Good for engineering students, career switchers from testing or support roles, and admins wondering about the developer side.

How booking works on Book A Sloth

Open the host's profile, pick the service, choose a slot that works for you, and confirm. All three of these sessions are free, so there's no payment step. When a host lists a paid service, you pay online through Razorpay at checkout. Either way, you get a booking confirmation with the details. If you're new to this, our guide on how to book an appointment online walks through it.

Why are these sessions free?

Each host chose to list these services at ₹0 on their Book A Sloth profile. Free sessions are a common way for experts to meet people who need them. If you are an expert yourself, here is how to become a paid mentor once the free calls fill up. Check the service page before booking, since a host can update their listings.

Common questions

Is MBBS abroad counselling free?

Some MBBS abroad counselling is free. On Book A Sloth, Atish Gupta of The Edulocus Way lists his MBBS Abroad Counselling session as free: 45 minutes, online, covering country and university choice by NEET score and budget, cost estimates, visa paperwork, FMGE/NExT licensing and a personalised admission roadmap.

What should I ask in an MBBS abroad counselling session?

Ask whether the university fits NMC rules (the FMGL Regulations 2021 require at least 54 months of study plus a 12-month internship at the same institution, in English), the total cost including hostel, visa steps, how graduates prepare for FMGE or NExT, and which scholarships or education loans apply to you.

Where can I get free 1:1 mentorship as a developer in India?

Working developers on Book A Sloth offer free 1:1 sessions online. Naman Acharya, a full stack web developer and freelancer in Pune, lists a free 30-minute 1:1 Mentorship session that you can book directly from his profile.

How do I get Salesforce career guidance online?

Book a session with someone already working in Salesforce. Vishal Chaware, a Salesforce developer, offers a free 60-minute online career counselling session for Salesforce on Book A Sloth, useful for students and career switchers deciding where to start.

One more thing about Atish. The first host to trust us with money is now handing out free advice on one of the most expensive decisions an Indian family makes. That tells you something about the man. Book Atish, Naman or Vishal before the dining table decides for you. And if you'd like to list your own services, talk to me.
