To add a booking button to your Google Business Profile, open your profile on Google Search, select Booking, choose Add link, paste your booking page URL and select Save. On Google Maps, go to Edit profile and pick the booking option instead. Google lets you add up to 10 booking links and mark one as "Business preferred".

This guide covers both routes Google offers: your own booking link, and a booking provider connected through Reserve with Google. It also covers removing links you did not add, tracking clicks and the local SEO basics that get the button tapped, for Indian clinics, salons, tutors and consultants.

What the booking button on Google actually is

When someone searches for your business name or "physiotherapist near me", your Business Profile appears on Google Search and Maps. If you have added a booking link, the profile shows a Book option. Tapping it opens the page you linked, where the client picks a slot. From the client's side, this is how to book an appointment online in a few taps.

Google's help page on managing local business links describes two kinds of links. You can add a single link for a menu or a list of services. You can also add up to 10 links per category for booking appointments, making reservations, placing food orders and placing shopping orders. The booking category is the one that matters for service businesses.

RouteHow it worksWhat you needGood to know

For most independent professionals in India, the first route is the simplest. You keep your own booking page, collect payment there, and Google simply sends people to it.

Before you start: get your Business Profile verified

Google says customers can only find your profile after you complete verification. If you do not have a profile yet, follow Google's sign-up steps for Business Profile: sign in, enter your business name, choose a category, say whether customers visit a location, add a phone number and website, then pick a verification option.

  • If clients come to you, such as a clinic in Andheri or a salon in Koramangala, show your address.
  • If you travel to clients or work online, mark yourself as a service-area business and hide the address. Google allows up to 20 service areas, set by city or PIN code.
  • Choose the most specific category you can, for example "Physiotherapist" over "Health consultant".
  • Create only one profile per business per metropolitan area. Google may suspend accounts with duplicate profiles.

How to add a booking link to your Google Business Profile

These steps follow Google's current help article. Labels can differ slightly by business category and device, so match them to what you see.

  1. 01Sign in to the Google account that manages your Business Profile and search for your business name on Google, or open it in Google Maps.
  2. 02On Google Search, select Booking. On Google Maps, select Edit profile and then the booking option.
  3. 03Select Add link. If you already have booking links, select Add another link.
  4. 04Paste the URL of your booking page, for example bookasloth.com/yourname. Use the page where clients pick a slot, not your homepage.
  5. 05Select Save. Then search for your business from another phone or a private window to check that the Book option shows and opens the right page.
Link the booking page itself

If the button opens your homepage, the client has to hunt for the booking step. Link the exact page where they choose a service and a slot. If that page also takes UPI payment, the Google tap turns into a confirmed, paid booking. For how much to ask up front, see advance payment for appointments.

One limit to know: Google says local business links are not available through the Business Profile API or spreadsheet upload. If you manage several branches, add the link to each profile by hand.

Set your preferred booking link

If your profile shows more than one booking link, for example your own page plus a link a directory added, you can choose which one appears first. Google labels it "Business preferred".

  1. 01Go to your Business Profile.
  2. 02Select the transaction type, in this case Booking.
  3. 03Select Set preferred link.
  4. 04Choose your own booking link.
  5. 05Select Save.

"Book online" through a provider: Reserve with Google in India

The second route is to connect a booking provider that integrates with Google. Google's page on setting up bookings through a provider says you can find providers available in your country through Reserve with Google. To sign up, go to your Business Profile, select Bookings, select Get started, pick your provider and select Done. Google says the provider will show on your profile within a week.

Three things to check before you choose this route. The provider may charge you for bookings that come through Google, so ask about fees. The list of providers depends on your country and category, so the options you see in India may differ from those in a US guide. And you are tied to that provider's booking flow and payment options, which may not include UPI. To see which tools do take UPI, compare these appointment scheduling apps in India.

If your preferred booking tool is not on Google's provider list, add it as your own link using the steps above. Google says this directly: you can also add your own link to your Business Profile.

Remove booking links you did not add

Sometimes a booking link appears on your profile that you never added, usually from a directory or aggregator. Google says these links are provided by third-party partners or automated data. If one sends your clients somewhere you do not control, remove it.

  1. 01Go to your Business Profile.
  2. 02On Google Search, select Booking, then Remove Provider.
  3. 03On Google Maps, select Edit profile, then Booking, then Remove Provider.

Google says providers must remove third-party links within 5 days of a removal request. If one does not, Google offers a form to report a violation.

Track how many people tap your booking button

Google's help page notes that performance data is not available for custom booking links. To see how many bookings come from Google, add tracking parameters to the URL before you paste it. Google's free Campaign URL Builder creates the tagged link for you.

Example tagged booking link

Use a different utm_source for each channel, such as instagram for your bio link and whatsapp for links you send in chat. After a month you will know which channel actually fills your calendar.

Make the profile worth tapping: local SEO basics

The booking button only works if people see your profile and trust it. These are the basics that help a local profile get chosen, all of which you control. Clinics can take it further with this digital marketing guide for clinics.

  • Fill every field: category, hours (including Sunday closures), phone, website and booking link.
  • Add your services with ₹ prices that match your booking page, for example "Physiotherapy session, 45 min, ₹800".
  • Upload real photos of your clinic, studio or work. Stock photos make a profile look generic.
  • Ask every client for a Google review after the session and reply to each one, including the critical ones.
  • Keep your name, address and phone number identical everywhere: Google, Instagram, Justdial and your booking page.
  • Post an update when you add slots or run a festive offer, with the booking link.

If Instagram brings you clients too, use the same booking page there. Our guide on adding a booking link to your Instagram bio covers the setup and the WhatsApp handoff. For what the booking page itself should include, read what a booking page needs in India.

Booking button not showing? Common fixes

  • Profile not verified yet: links will not help until verification is complete.
  • No Booking option in your dashboard: Google decides which transaction types appear, and it may not be offered for every category. Check that your primary category describes an appointment-based service.
  • Wrong page opens: a third-party link may be set as preferred. Set your own link as Business preferred.
  • Link was just added: changes can take a little time to appear publicly. Check again later from a logged-out browser.
  • Link breaks on mobile: open it on a phone using mobile data. Many people open your profile from Google Maps on a phone, so the page has to work there.

Using a Book A Sloth page as your Google booking link

If you need a booking page to link, Book A Sloth booking pages give you one at bookasloth.com/yourname. You list services with fixed prices, the client picks a slot in your availability and pays up-front through Razorpay by UPI, card or netbanking, and the booking confirms automatically on payment. Clients get WhatsApp and email confirmations and reminders, can reschedule from the link, and book with a phone OTP without downloading an app. Two-way Google Calendar sync keeps your Google slots and offline appointments from clashing.

The free Sloth plan charges 5% only on paid bookings. Sloth Active is ₹399 a month with 0% commission. Razorpay's gateway fee of about 2.4% applies on both. Details are on the pricing page.

Common questions

How do I add a booking button to my Google Business Profile?

Open your Business Profile on Google Search and select Booking, or on Google Maps select Edit profile and the booking option. Select Add link, paste the URL of your booking page and select Save. Google allows up to 10 booking links, and you can set one as Business preferred.

Is the Google booking button free?

Adding your own booking link to a Google Business Profile does not cost anything. If you connect a booking provider through Reserve with Google instead, Google says that provider might charge you, so check their fees before signing up.

Is Reserve with Google available in India?

Google says you can find booking providers available in your country through Reserve with Google from the Bookings section of your profile. Which providers appear depends on your country and business category. If none suit you, add your own booking link, which works with any booking tool.

Why is there no Booking option on my Google Business Profile?

Your profile may not be verified yet, or Google may not offer the booking transaction type for your business category. Verify the profile first, then check that your primary category describes an appointment-based service such as a clinic, salon or tutor.

Can I add booking links to many Google Business Profiles at once?

No. Google says local business links are not available through the Business Profile API or spreadsheet upload, so each profile has to be updated individually through Edit profile or the Booking section.

How do I remove a booking link I did not add on Google?

On Google Search, open your Business Profile, select Booking and then Remove Provider. On Google Maps, select Edit profile, Booking and Remove Provider. Providers must remove the link within 5 days of the request, and Google offers a violation report if they do not.
