Add a booking link to your Instagram bio in 4 taps: Edit profile, Links, Add link, Done. Then make it take UPI payment so every booking arrives prepaid.

To add a booking link to your Instagram bio, open your profile, tap Edit profile, then Links, then Add link. Paste your booking page URL and tap Done. Put it first of your 5 allowed links. Point it at a page where clients pick a slot and pay by UPI, so each tap becomes a prepaid booking.

This guide covers the bio link, Instagram's "Book now" action button, the Story link sticker, a WhatsApp handoff for people who would rather chat first, and how to collect the fee before the session. Everything is written for Indian coaches, tutors, trainers, therapists, salons and consultants.

How to add a booking link to your Instagram bio (step by step)

According to Instagram's Help Center, you can add up to 5 websites to your profile from the Android or iPhone app, and anyone on or off Instagram can see them. The feature is not available when you use Instagram on a computer, so do this from your phone.

  1. 01Open the Instagram app and tap your profile picture at the bottom right.
  2. 02Tap Edit profile at the top of your profile.
  3. 03Tap Links, then tap Add link.
  4. 04Paste your booking page URL, for example bookasloth.com/yourname, and give it a short title such as "Book a session".
  5. 05Tap Done. To change the order later, go to Edit profile, Links, Options, Reorder links, and drag the booking link to the top.
Put the booking link first

When you have more than one link, the first one is the one people notice. If your profile exists to get bookings, the booking link goes on top and your YouTube or blog links go below it.

Your bio text itself can be up to 150 characters. Use that space to say what you do, who it is for, the starting price and a nudge towards the link. Templates are further down.

Instagram "Book now" button: how it works and who can use it

Instagram also offers action buttons for business accounts. The Help Center page on action buttons lists three: Book now (book an appointment), Reserve (restaurant reservations) and Order food. Only one action button can show on your profile at a time.

There are two catches. First, the button only works with Instagram's booking partners, and you need an existing account with that partner before you can select it. Instagram says the number of providers is limited and will grow across countries, so the list you see in the app depends on where you are. Second, you need a business account to see the option at all.

If you want to try it, switch to a business account, open Edit profile and look for the action buttons or contact options section. Pick Book now and choose your provider. Menu labels change between app versions, so follow what your screen shows. If your booking tool is not in the list, skip the button. The bio link does the same job and works for every account type.

A practical setup uses three of these together: the bio link as the permanent door, Stories to announce open slots, and DMs or WhatsApp for the people who want to talk before they pay.

What your Instagram booking link should open

A link in bio is only as good as the page behind it. If the link opens a Google Form, a PDF rate card or a Linktree full of more links, people drop off before they book. The page should let a follower finish the booking in one go, on a phone, in under a minute. We cover the essentials in what a booking page needs in India.

  • Your services with a fixed price in ₹, for example "Trial class, 45 min, ₹300".
  • Live open slots in IST, so nobody has to ask "kal free ho?" in your DMs.
  • Payment by UPI, cards or netbanking at the moment of booking.
  • An automatic confirmation on WhatsApp or email with the time, address or meeting link.
  • A reminder before the session and a clear way to reschedule.
  • No app download and no long sign-up form for the client.

If you are still collecting fees by sharing a UPI ID and waiting for a screenshot, read how we replaced the screenshot dance with pay-at-booking. The short version: when payment and booking happen in the same step, you stop matching screenshots to names at 11 pm.

Link in bio for coaches, tutors and salons: bio text templates

Each of these fits inside Instagram's 150-character bio limit. Replace the brackets, keep one clear call to action and let the link do the rest.

The WhatsApp handoff: for people who want to chat first

Some followers will never tap a booking page cold. They want to ask one question first, usually about price, timing or whether you take beginners. Give them a WhatsApp link as your second bio link, and answer with your booking link in the chat.

WhatsApp's click to chat feature builds that link for you. Use wa.me followed by your full number in international format with no plus sign, zeros, brackets or dashes, for example wa.me/919876543210. Add ?text= and a URL-encoded message to pre-fill what the client types, such as wa.me/919876543210?text=Hi%2C%20I%20saw%20your%20Instagram.

Save the replies below as quick replies in the WhatsApp Business app so you can send them in two taps.

Take UPI payment at the moment of booking

An Instagram follower who books without paying is a soft yes. A follower who pays ₹500 by UPI to hold a slot is a client. Prepayment is one of the most practical ways to cut no-shows from social media leads, because a booking made on impulse late at night is easy to forget by morning.

Here is a worked example. Say Sneha, a nutritionist in Hyderabad, charges ₹1,200 per consult and gets 10 bookings a month from Instagram. If 2 of those are no-shows when nobody pays upfront, that is ₹2,400 of empty calendar each month. With pay-at-booking, a no-show still hurts, but the slot is paid for. The numbers here are illustrative. Multiply your own fee by your monthly no-shows to see your figure.

Tell clients your cancellation and reschedule rules on the booking page itself, so the payment never feels like a trap. A simple line works: "Reschedule free up to 12 hours before. Later cancellations are not refunded."

Use Stories, Reels and DMs to push the link

A link in bio works best when you send people to it. Instagram's link sticker lets you put your booking link directly in a Story. Capture or upload the Story, tap the sticker tool, choose Link, paste the URL and tap Done. New accounts and accounts that repeatedly break the Community Guidelines do not get the sticker.

  • Post an "open slots this week" Story every Monday with the link sticker.
  • End Reels with one spoken line: "Booking link is in my bio."
  • Pin a highlight called "Book" that holds your link sticker Stories.
  • Reply to "price?" comments with "Sent you a DM", then send the first-reply template above.

If you also want bookings from people who search for you on Google, add the same link to your Google Business Profile. Our guide on adding a Book button to your Google Business Profile walks through it.

Common mistakes with Instagram booking links

  • Linking to your WhatsApp number only, which turns every booking into a 10-message conversation.
  • Hiding prices until someone DMs. Showing a starting price filters out people who were never going to book.
  • Using a link-in-bio page with eight buttons when you sell one service.
  • Never testing the link on mobile data from a phone that is not logged in to your account.
  • Changing usernames and forgetting the old link is printed on your visiting cards.

Setting it up with Book A Sloth

If you need a booking page to put in your bio, Book A Sloth booking pages give you a link at bookasloth.com/yourname. You list services with fixed prices, clients pick a slot and pay up-front through Razorpay by UPI, card or netbanking, and the booking confirms automatically on payment. Clients book with a phone OTP and do not need to download an app. Confirmations and reminders go out on WhatsApp and email, and rescheduling and cancellation are built in.

The free Sloth plan charges 5% only on paid bookings. Sloth Active costs ₹399 a month with 0% commission. Razorpay's gateway fee of about 2.4% applies on both. See pricing for details.

Common questions

How do I add a booking link to my Instagram bio?

In the Instagram app, tap your profile picture, then Edit profile, then Links, then Add link. Paste your booking page URL, add a title like "Book a session" and tap Done. Instagram allows up to 5 links, and you can reorder them so the booking link appears first.

How do I add a Book Now button on Instagram?

You need a business account and an existing account with one of Instagram's booking partners. Then open Edit profile, find the action buttons section, choose Book now and select your provider. Partner availability is limited and varies by country, so if your tool is not listed, use a booking link in your bio instead.

Can I take UPI payments through my Instagram link in bio?

Instagram does not process payments for appointments itself, but the page your bio links to can. Use a booking page that collects UPI, card or netbanking payment at the moment of booking, so the slot is confirmed only after the client pays. Here is how to take advance payment for appointments in India.

What is the best link in bio for coaches in India?

A booking page that shows your services with ₹ prices, live slots in IST, UPI payment and automatic WhatsApp confirmations. A plain list of links adds an extra tap before the client reaches the booking step, so link straight to the booking page when booking is the goal.

Can I add a WhatsApp link to my Instagram bio?

Yes. Create a click-to-chat link in the format wa.me/ followed by your number with the country code and no plus sign, for example wa.me/919876543210, and add it as one of your bio links. You can pre-fill a message by adding ?text= followed by URL-encoded text.

Why can't I add a link to my Instagram bio from my laptop?

Instagram's Help Center says adding websites to your profile is not available on computers. Use the Instagram app on an Android phone or iPhone, where you will find it under Edit profile and then Links.
