Double booking
Double booking is when two clients end up booked for the same time, usually because availability was tracked by hand. It forces an awkward cancellation and damages trust. Live, calendar-synced availability prevents it by removing a slot the instant it is taken.
Why double booking matters
Double booking usually happens when slots are tracked in two places at once: a diary at the clinic and WhatsApp chats on your phone, or a receptionist and you both saying yes to the same 6 pm. Each side looks correct on its own. The clash only shows up when two people arrive.
The cost is trust. One of the two clients gets a last-minute apology, possibly after taking leave or travelling across the city. For a salon or a physiotherapy clinic, that client may not come back.
Keep one source of truth for bookings and let it remove a slot the instant it is taken. On Book A Sloth the database refuses two overlapping bookings for the same host, so two clients paying for the same slot at the same moment cannot both succeed. Connecting Google Calendar adds your other commitments to the picture, and slots are checked against it again at the moment of booking.
Example
A Pune salon owner who took bookings on both Instagram DMs and a paper diary moves to a single booking link, and the Saturday 5 pm slot now disappears for everyone once the first client pays.
