Appointment reminder
An appointment reminder is an automatic message — WhatsApp, email or SMS — sent before a booking so the client remembers to show up. Reminders are one of the most effective ways to reduce no-shows. In India, WhatsApp reminders are especially effective because they see far higher open rates than email.
Why appointment reminder matters
An appointment reminder is a short, automatic message that tells the client what, when and where: the service, date and time, and the address or video link. Its job is to catch bookings people made days ago and forgot. It also prompts a client who can no longer make it to reschedule early, while you can still fill the slot.
Timing matters. A reminder a day before gives time to rearrange the day or move the booking. A reminder an hour before catches people who remembered the date but lost track of the time. In India a WhatsApp reminder is more likely to be seen quickly than an email, because WhatsApp is where clients already talk to their doctor, tutor or salon.
Book A Sloth sends reminders automatically to both you and the client. The Sloth plan sends a 24-hour reminder. Sloth Active adds a second reminder 1 hour before. Reminders go out on email and WhatsApp; on the free plan, WhatsApp reminders run for the first 60 days after signup and then continue on email.
Example
At 5 pm on Wednesday, a Lucknow tutor's student gets a WhatsApp reminder for Thursday's 5 pm physics class with the Google Meet link, and the tutor gets one too.
