Independent personal trainers in India commonly list ₹500 to ₹800 per hour for 1:1 sessions, and up to ₹1,000 for home or online sessions, according to UrbanPro fee estimates. That is roughly ₹6,000 to ₹12,000 a month for 12 sessions. Gym-chain personal training costs more, often ₹12,000 to ₹30,000 a month in metros.
Most answers to this question are written for clients hunting for a cheaper trainer. This one is for trainers. It shows the public numbers, then helps you build a rate card for single sessions, monthly packs, home visits and online coaching, with the maths behind each line.
Personal trainer fees per month in India: public benchmarks
We opened these sources in October 2026. Treat them as reference points. Listing sites show what trainers ask, not what every client pays. Book A Sloth will publish its own aggregated numbers once its booking volume is large enough to be meaningful.

The UrbanPro Pune listing quotes 1:1 monthly fees of “INR 6,000 - INR 9,600 for 12 classes per month” and an average of ₹650 an hour, with individual trainers listed from ₹300 to ₹1,200 an hour. The chain figures come from a magicpin article on personal trainer fees, which is a consumer guide rather than official pricing, so check the gym near you.
Personal trainer price per session by city
City matters, but less than you might think for independent trainers. UrbanPro's gym and trainer fee page estimates ₹500 to ₹800 per hour across India. Its city estimates are ₹600 to ₹1,000 in Mumbai and New Delhi, ₹500 to ₹800 in Bangalore and Hyderabad, ₹500 to ₹700 in Pune and ₹500 to ₹600 in Chennai. Premium areas such as South Delhi or South Mumbai can sit above these ranges, and smaller cities often below.
The better way to set a city rate is to look at five trainers near you with similar experience, note their per-session price, and place yourself in that range based on your certifications, results and niche.
How to calculate your personal training rate
Use the same consultation fee formula any consultant uses: income you want plus monthly costs, divided by the sessions you can deliver, then adjusted for payment fees. Trainers have one extra cost that consultants do not: travel time between clients.
- 01Set your monthly income target before tax, for example ₹60,000.
- 02Add monthly costs: certification renewals, equipment, gym floor fee if you pay one, phone, travel and fuel. Say ₹8,000.
- 03Count sessions you can deliver well. Six sessions a day for 22 days is 132, minus 20% for cancellations and gaps, gives about 105.
- 04Divide ₹68,000 by 105 to get about ₹648 per session.
- 05Add about 2.36% for gateway fees (Razorpay lists a 2% platform fee plus 18% GST on that fee). That gives about ₹663.
- 06Round to ₹700 per session and build your packs from there.
This is a worked example, not a market rate. If you do home visits, count the travel time as part of the session. A 60-minute session with 30 minutes of travel each way uses two hours of your day, so it needs to be priced closer to two sessions or carry a travel charge.
A sample personal trainer rate card
Here is an example rate card for a certified trainer in a tier-1 city using the ₹700 base above. Change the numbers to fit your maths.
| Plan | What's included | Example price | Effective per session |
|---|---|---|---|
| Single session | 1 session, 60 min | ₹800 | ₹800 |
| Monthly 12 | 12 sessions in 30 days | ₹8,400 | ₹700 |
| Monthly 16 | 16 sessions in 30 days | ₹10,400 | ₹650 |
| 3-month 36 | 36 sessions in 90 days | ₹23,400 | ₹650 |
| Online coaching | 8 live video sessions plus a weekly plan | ₹5,600 | ₹700 |
| Home visit add-on | Travel within 5 km | ₹200 per visit | Added to any plan |
Notice the single session is priced above the pack rate. That nudges clients toward commitment, which is what gets results and keeps your calendar steady. Keep pack discounts small, around 5% to 10%. A deep discount trains clients to wait for offers. The same package logic applies when pricing coaching services in India.
Online personal trainer charges
Online training removes travel, so you can fit more sessions into a day and coach clients in other cities. UrbanPro's Pune listing shows online 1:1 at ₹500 to ₹1,000 an hour, similar to in-person. Many online trainers mix live sessions with a written plan and check-ins on WhatsApp. If you do that, price the check-in time too. Ten minutes of messages per client per day across 15 clients is 2.5 hours you are not being paid for unless it is in the price. If you run group batches online, the guide to starting online yoga classes covers batches and UPI fees.
- Live-only: price per session, same as in person.
- Hybrid: fewer live sessions plus a weekly plan and check-ins, priced per month.
- Plan-only: a written programme with one review call, priced as a fixed fee.
How to collect monthly training fees by UPI
Monthly packs work best when the client pays before the month starts. Ask for the full pack fee upfront, send a reminder three days before renewal, and pause sessions if payment has not come in. Put this in writing when a client joins.
Hi Neha, your 12-session pack ends on 30 Oct. The November pack is ₹8,400. You can pay here: [booking link] Once paid, your Mon-Wed-Fri 7 am slots stay reserved for you.
Monthly renewal reminder on WhatsApp
Write a short cancellation rule too: sessions cancelled with less than 12 or 24 hours' notice count as used, and unused sessions expire at the end of the pack. Our cancellation policy templates include a version for trainers.
When to raise your personal training fees
- Your prime slots, 6 to 9 am and 6 to 9 pm, are full for a month ahead.
- You have finished a new certification or specialisation.
- Clients stay with you for six months or more.
- Your costs, such as fuel or gym floor fees, have gone up.
Raise prices for new clients first. Give existing clients 30 days' notice and keep them on the old rate until their current pack ends. If you are just starting out, the guide on how to become a freelance personal trainer covers certification and getting your first clients.
Where Book A Sloth fits
Book A Sloth gives trainers a booking page with fixed-price services, so a client can pick a slot and pay by UPI, card or netbanking upfront. The booking confirms on payment, reminders go out on WhatsApp and email, and Google Calendar syncs both ways. It works for gym, home and online sessions. It does not run automatic recurring billing, so each month's pack is a fresh payment. See the setup for fitness trainers. The free Sloth plan charges 5% only on paid bookings; Sloth Active is ₹399 a month with 0% commission, and Razorpay's gateway fee of about 2.4% applies on both.
Personal trainer charges FAQs
Common questions
How much does a personal trainer charge per month in India?
UrbanPro's Pune listing estimates ₹6,000 to ₹9,600 a month for 12 one-on-one sessions, and ₹7,200 to ₹12,000 for home training. Gym-chain personal training in metros is higher; a magicpin guide updated in May 2026 lists ₹15,000 to ₹25,000 a month at Cult.fit in Delhi and Mumbai.
What is a fair price per session for a new personal trainer?
Start from your costs and income target. A trainer who needs ₹68,000 a month including costs and can deliver about 105 sessions lands near ₹650 per session, or about ₹663 after gateway fees, rounded to ₹700. Check that against five trainers near you with similar experience.
Should online personal training cost less than in-person?
Not necessarily. UrbanPro's Pune listing shows online 1:1 at ₹500 to ₹1,000 an hour, similar to gym sessions. Online saves you travel, but if you add daily WhatsApp check-ins and written plans, that time must be priced in.
How should I charge for home visits as a trainer?
Add your travel time to the session. A 60-minute session with an hour of total travel uses two hours of your day. Either price home sessions higher or add a fixed travel charge by distance, such as a flat amount per visit within 5 km.
Should personal training fees be paid in advance?
Yes. Take the full monthly or pack fee before the first session of the period. Upfront payment removes month-end chasing and keeps clients committed. Send a renewal reminder a few days before the pack ends and pause sessions until it is paid.
