No, Calendly cannot take UPI payments. Its payment feature works only through Stripe and PayPal, in AUD, CAD, EUR, GBP and USD, so there is no INR, no UPI and no built-in Razorpay. Indian professionals use three workarounds: a connector that sends a Razorpay link, a UPI ID checked by hand, or a booking tool with UPI built in.
Each workaround has a different cost and a different way of breaking. This guide explains why the gap exists, sets up each option step by step, and compares them on monthly cost, failure points and refunds, with a worked example for a ₹800 consultation. Everything was checked against Calendly, Stripe and connector documentation in October 2026.
Why Calendly can't take UPI or rupee payments
Calendly's Stripe help article lists the payment methods it supports: major credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Link bank payments, and Affirm or Klarna where available. Supported currencies are AUD, CAD, EUR, GBP and USD. INR and UPI are not mentioned. Payments are also limited to paid plans: Professional, Standard, Standard Plus, Teams, Teams Plus and Enterprise.
The two gateways Calendly does support are hard to use for Indian clients. Stripe's support page says Stripe accounts are invite-only in India and Indian businesses cannot sign up for a new account through its website. PayPal shut its domestic payments business in India in April 2021 and now handles cross-border payments only. So even on a paid Calendly plan, a client in Nagpur cannot pay you ₹800 by UPI through Calendly itself. For every other route, see how to collect payments from clients in India.
Workaround 1: Calendly Razorpay integration through a connector
Calendly has no Razorpay integration of its own, but automation tools can join the two. Integrately's Calendly and Razorpay page lists the pieces you need: a trigger called "Invitee is created in Calendly" and an action called "Create payment Link in Razorpay". Zapier and Pabbly Connect can build the same flow.
- 01Upgrade Calendly to a paid plan. Calendly's API help article says webhooks, which these triggers rely on, are available only on Professional, Standard, Standard Plus, Teams, Teams Plus and Enterprise.
- 02Create a Razorpay account and complete its KYC so you can create payment links.
- 03In Integrately, Zapier or Pabbly, set the trigger to a new Calendly invitee for your paid event type.
- 04Add the action: create a Razorpay payment link, mapping the invitee's name, email, phone and your session price in rupees.
- 05Add a step to send the link to the client by email or WhatsApp, or paste it into a reminder.
- 06Watch for Razorpay's payment link paid event and mark the booking as paid in your own sheet or CRM.
Connector costs as of October 2026: Zapier's free plan gives 100 tasks a month and two-step Zaps only, and its Professional plan starts at US$19.99 a month billed annually. Pabbly Connect's free plan also gives 100 tasks a month. Integrately advertises a free tier. A two-step free Zap can create the link, but messaging it to the client is usually a third step, which needs a paid plan.
Where the connector workflow breaks
- The booking confirms before the client pays. Calendly blocks the slot the moment someone books, whether or not they open the payment link.
- Unpaid bookings stay on your calendar. Integrately lists only two Calendly actions (create and update an event type), so there is no ready-made action to cancel an unpaid booking. You cancel by hand.
- Reschedules and cancellations do not touch the payment link. If a client cancels, the old link stays live unless you expire it.
- Refunds are manual. You issue them from the Razorpay dashboard and then cancel the Calendly event separately.
- Task limits run out. Each booking uses at least one task, and multi-step flows use more, so a busy month can push you onto a paid connector plan.
- Three bills instead of one: Calendly in dollars, the connector, and Razorpay's 2% fee plus 18% GST on that fee.
Workaround 2: Manual UPI ID in the Calendly confirmation
The simplest option is to add your UPI ID or QR code to the event description and confirmation message: "Please pay ₹800 to priya@okhdfcbank before the session and reply with the UTR number." This works on Calendly's Free plan and costs nothing in gateway fees for a direct UPI transfer. The catch is matching UTRs by hand, the advance payment screenshot dance most hosts want to leave behind.
- You check every payment yourself in your UPI app or bank statement. A screenshot alone is not proof, so match the UTR number or amount and time.
- Clients who book and never pay still hold a slot. This is where most advance payment problems start.
- Refunds mean sending money back by UPI and keeping your own record.
- There is no automatic receipt or GST invoice, so you create them yourself if you need them.
- Calendly's Free plan allows one event type, so a free intro call and a paid session cannot both live on it.
Workaround 3: A booking tool with UPI at checkout
The third option is to move paid bookings to a scheduler that runs an Indian payment gateway inside the booking flow, so the client picks a slot, pays by UPI, card or netbanking, and only then gets a confirmation. Zoho Bookings, for example, lists Razorpay among its payment gateways for India in its help documentation, and its pricing page places online payments on the Premium plan. Book A Sloth takes UPI through Razorpay on every plan. Because payment happens before confirmation, unpaid bookings never reach your calendar. That is the core of taking advance payment for appointments.
Calendly UPI workarounds compared: cost, failure points and refunds
| Connector (Calendly + Razorpay) | Manual UPI ID | Booking tool with UPI built in | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Calendly plan needed | Standard or higher, about ₹1,190 to ₹1,430 a month | Free works | None |
| Extra tools | Zapier, Pabbly or Integrately | None | None |
| Payment fee | Razorpay 2% + 18% GST on the fee | ₹0 on a direct UPI transfer | Gateway fee, plus the tool's commission or subscription |
| When the booking confirms | Before payment | Before payment | After payment |
| Unpaid bookings | Cancel by hand | Cancel by hand | Not created |
| Refunds | Manual in Razorpay, then cancel in Calendly | Manual UPI transfer back | From the tool or gateway dashboard |
| Main failure point | Link sent but never paid | Payment not verified | Tool limits (for example, no multi-staff) |
| Best for | Teams already paying for Calendly | A handful of bookings a month | Solo professionals paid in rupees |
Worked example: a ₹800 consultation, 30 bookings a month
Example: Priya is a nutritionist in Jaipur. She charges ₹800 per online consultation and takes 30 bookings a month, so she bills ₹24,000. Here is her monthly cost under each setup, using ₹96.73 per US dollar (ECB reference rate for 9 October 2026), 18% GST and a 3.5% card markup on dollar bills, and Razorpay's 2% fee plus GST, about 2.36%.
| Setup | Subscriptions | Payment fees on ₹24,000 | Monthly total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Calendly Standard (annual) + free Integrately or Zapier + Razorpay links | about ₹1,189 | about ₹566 | about ₹1,755, plus time cancelling unpaid slots |
| Calendly Free + manual UPI ID | ₹0 | ₹0 | ₹0, plus time checking 30 payments |
| Book A Sloth free plan | ₹0 | ₹1,200 commission (5%) + about ₹576 gateway | about ₹1,776 |
| Book A Sloth Sloth Active | ₹399 | about ₹576 gateway | about ₹975 |

Which option should you choose?
- You already pay for Calendly and run a team with shared event types: use a connector, and set a daily reminder to cancel unpaid bookings.
- You take fewer than 10 paid bookings a month and do not mind checking payments: a UPI ID on Calendly's Free plan is fine.
- You are a solo coach, therapist, tutor or consultant paid in rupees: a booking tool with UPI at checkout removes the chasing, because nobody gets a slot without paying.
How Book A Sloth handles UPI at booking
Book A Sloth is an India-first booking page. Clients choose a slot at bookasloth.com/yourname, verify their phone by OTP, and pay upfront by UPI, card or netbanking through Razorpay. The booking confirms automatically on payment, and email and WhatsApp confirmations and reminders follow. It syncs both ways with Google Calendar and creates Google Meet links. The free plan has no subscription and takes 5% per paid booking; Sloth Active is ₹399 a month (GST included) with 0% commission. Razorpay's gateway fee of about 2.4% applies on both. It works in rupees only and does not offer multi-staff calendars. See how payments work, or the Calendly alternative comparison.
Common questions
Does Calendly support UPI payments?
No. As of October 2026 Calendly collects payments only through Stripe and PayPal, in AUD, CAD, EUR, GBP and USD. UPI and INR are not supported. To take UPI for a Calendly booking, you need a connector that sends a Razorpay payment link, a manual UPI ID, or a different booking tool with UPI at checkout.
Can I connect Razorpay to Calendly?
Not directly. Calendly has no native Razorpay integration. Connectors such as Integrately, Zapier and Pabbly Connect can create a Razorpay payment link when someone books, but this needs a paid Calendly plan for webhooks, and the booking still confirms before the client pays.
Can Calendly charge clients in rupees?
No. Calendly's Stripe and PayPal payments support only AUD, CAD, EUR, GBP and USD. To charge an Indian client in rupees, collect the fee outside Calendly through a Razorpay payment link or UPI ID, or use a booking tool that runs an Indian gateway at checkout.
Can I take payments on Calendly's free plan?
No. Calendly lists payment collection only on paid plans: Professional, Standard, Standard Plus, Teams, Teams Plus and Enterprise. On the Free plan the only option is to share a UPI ID or QR in the event description and verify each payment yourself.
What is the cheapest way to take UPI for online consultations in India?
For a handful of bookings, a UPI ID in your confirmation costs nothing but needs manual checking. For regular paid sessions, a booking tool with UPI at checkout is usually cheaper than paying for Calendly, a connector and Razorpay separately, and it stops unpaid bookings from blocking your calendar. Our comparison of appointment apps in India shows which ones take UPI.
