Topmate charges a 10% commission on sales through your own profile or link, and 20% on sales to new customers who find you through its marketplace, as of October 2026. Payment gateway charges of about 2% to 3% come on top. On a ₹1,000 own-link booking you keep roughly ₹870 to ₹880, before any GST on fees.

There is no subscription, so you only pay when you earn. The real cost depends on where the client came from, which gateway rate applies, and whether GST is added to the fees. Below is each fee with its source, a worked example per ₹1,000 and per month, and a simple formula to price your sessions so you still take home what you planned.

Topmate pricing: commission and charges as of October 2026

All figures come from the Topmate pricing page, checked in October 2026. The page headline is that Topmate earns only when you earn, with no upfront fees and no recurring charges.

Topmate feeRateWhen it applies
Commission on your own link10%Every sale made through your Topmate profile or link that you share
Marketplace fee20%Per transaction when a new customer finds and buys from you through Topmate's marketplace
Transaction (gateway) fees2% / 3%Listed in the pricing page comparison table; the FAQ says gateways like Stripe and PayPal typically charge around 3%
SubscriptionNoneNo upfront or recurring charges
Custom planBy quoteCreators earning ₹10 lakh or US$20,000 or more a month, via Topmate's sales team
GST on feesNot statedThe pricing page does not say whether GST is added to the commission

Two points the page leaves open. It lists transaction fees as "2%/3%" without saying which rate applies when, and its FAQ adds only that "payment gateways like Stripe and PayPal typically charge around 3% of the transaction amount". The examples below show both rates. For comparison, Razorpay's standard pricing for Indian businesses is a 2% platform fee with 18% GST on that fee. The Topmate page also does not mention GST, so we show your take-home with and without 18% GST on the fees. Your payout statement is the final word for your account.

Topmate charges per ₹1,000: what you actually keep

Here is a ₹1,000 session under each combination. Fees are calculated on the full booking amount, which is how commission and gateway fees are normally charged.

Scenario (₹1,000 booking)CommissionGateway feeTotal feesYou keep (no GST on fees)You keep (18% GST on fees)
Own link, 2% gateway₹100₹20₹120₹880₹858
Own link, 3% gateway₹100₹30₹130₹870₹847
Marketplace, 2% gateway₹200₹20₹220₹780₹740
Marketplace, 3% gateway₹200₹30₹230₹770₹729

So the honest range for an own-link booking is ₹847 to ₹880 per ₹1,000, and ₹729 to ₹780 for a marketplace booking. The marketplace rate is double because Topmate found that client for you. Whether that is good value depends on how many of your clients you would not have reached otherwise.

Topmate fees on a month of sessions (worked example)

Example: Rohan is a product-management mentor in Bengaluru. He charges ₹2,000 per 45-minute call and does 25 calls a month, so he bills ₹50,000. About 60% of clients come from his LinkedIn posts through his own link, and 40% find him on Topmate's marketplace. We assume a 2% gateway fee.

LineOwn link (₹30,000)Marketplace (₹20,000)Month total
Commission₹3,000 (10%)₹4,000 (20%)₹7,000
Gateway fee (2%)₹600₹400₹1,000
Fees before GST₹3,600₹4,400₹8,000
Rohan keeps (no GST on fees)₹26,400₹15,600₹42,000 (84%)
Rohan keeps (18% GST on fees)₹25,752₹14,808₹40,560 (81%)

If Rohan moved all 25 calls to his own link, his fees before GST would fall from ₹8,000 to ₹6,000. That ₹2,000 difference is the price of the marketplace's discovery, and it is a fair trade if those 10 clients would not have found him any other way.

Is GST charged on Topmate commission?

Yes. The FAQ on Topmate's homepage says that gateway charges and GST on Topmate's fees also apply (checked October 2026), so check your payout statement or invoice for the GST line. If you are GST-registered, GST charged to you on a platform fee can usually be claimed as input tax credit, which takes it out of your real cost. If you are not registered, any GST on the fee is a straight cost, which is why the right-hand column above matters for most new creators. Your own GST obligations on session income are a separate question for your CA; our GST calculator helps with the arithmetic.

Topmate payout: how you get paid

The Topmate pricing page FAQ says clients can pay from anywhere in their preferred currency, and that payouts are instant through its integrations with Stripe and PayPal. The comparison table also lists instant payouts as a feature. We could not find a published payout schedule, settlement window or minimum payout on the pricing page, so check the payouts section of your Topmate dashboard before you plan cash flow around a specific date.

How to price sessions so Topmate charges do not eat your fee

Work backwards from what you want to take home. Divide your target by (1 minus your total fee rate). The steps below use Topmate's published rates. To set the base fee itself, see how to price coaching services in India.

  1. 01Decide your take-home per session, for example ₹1,500.
  2. 02Pick the fee rate for the channel: 12% for own link with a 2% gateway, 22% for marketplace with a 2% gateway.
  3. 03Add GST on fees if your statement shows it: 12% becomes about 14.2%, 22% becomes about 26%.
  4. 04Divide: ₹1,500 ÷ (1 − 0.142) = about ₹1,748 for own-link bookings.
  5. 05Round to a clean price such as ₹1,749 or ₹1,799, and re-check after your first payout statement.

Two more levers. Share your own link everywhere you already have an audience (LinkedIn, Instagram bio, WhatsApp status), because those sales carry 10% instead of 20%. And if you cross ₹10 lakh a month, Topmate's custom plan is worth a conversation with its sales team.

Topmate vs a flat-fee booking page: per ₹1,000

If most of your clients already come from your own audience, compare Topmate's own-link rate with booking tools that charge a lower commission or a flat monthly fee. This table uses a ₹1,000 booking and leaves out GST on fees for a like-for-like view.

Sloth Active's ₹399 pays for itself once you bill about ₹8,000 a month compared with the 5% free plan. Run your own numbers in the earnings calculator.

Where Book A Sloth fits

Book A Sloth is a booking page for Indian professionals who already have clients and want to keep more of each fee. Clients book at bookasloth.com/yourname and pay upfront by UPI, card or netbanking through Razorpay, and the booking confirms on payment. You get email and WhatsApp confirmations and reminders, two-way Google Calendar sync, Google Meet links and GST invoices. The free plan takes 5% per paid booking with no subscription; Sloth Active is ₹399 a month or ₹3,599 a year, GST included, with 0% commission. Razorpay's gateway fee of about 2.4% applies to both. Common questions

What is Topmate's commission?

As of October 2026, Topmate charges 10% on every sale made through your own profile or link, and 20% per transaction when a new customer buys from you through the Topmate marketplace. Payment gateway charges of about 2% to 3% are separate. Creators earning ₹10 lakh or more a month can ask for a custom plan.

Does Topmate charge a monthly fee?

No. Topmate's pricing page says there are no upfront fees and no recurring charges. You pay only a commission on each sale (10% own link, 20% marketplace) plus payment gateway charges, so a month with no bookings costs you nothing.

What are Topmate's transaction charges?

Topmate's pricing page lists transaction fees as 2%/3% and its FAQ says payment gateways like Stripe and PayPal typically charge around 3% of the transaction amount. These are on top of the 10% or 20% commission. The page does not say which rate applies to which payment.

How much do I keep from a ₹1,000 Topmate booking?

About ₹870 to ₹880 if the client used your own link, and ₹770 to ₹780 if they came through the marketplace, based on Topmate's 10% and 20% commissions plus a 2% to 3% gateway fee. If 18% GST is added to those fees, the own-link figure falls to about ₹847 to ₹858.

Is GST charged on Topmate's commission?

Yes. Topmate's FAQ says GST on its fees applies, on top of gateway charges (checked October 2026). If you are GST-registered, you can usually claim it as input tax credit; if you are not registered, it is an added cost of about 18% on the fees.

When does Topmate pay out?

Topmate's pricing page FAQ says payouts are instant through its Stripe and PayPal integrations and lists instant payouts as a feature. It does not publish a settlement schedule or minimum payout there, so check the payouts section of your Topmate dashboard for the terms on your account.
